The bridge lifts about 500 times a year. A calendar of the lifts is published with the date, time, direction and name of each ship, and extra lifts can be added at short notice.
There are two lifts to the walkways, one in each tower, and an outside lift to the engine rooms and the shop. Wheelchairs and walkers can be borrowed at the ticket office and at the engine rooms entrance. Guide dogs and other dogs on a lead are welcome. Some areas are dark, and there are two quiet spaces in the South Tower.
Lifts can break down, so it is best to climb the stairs if you can: the lifts are there if you cannot.
It is closed on 24, 25 and 26 December. On 1 January it opens at 10:00 instead of 9:30.
